About the Position

The Probation Division, Child Support Enforcement Unit in the Monmouth Vicinage is seeking dedicated candidates with excellent interpersonal, customer service, and self-management skills to manage child support and alimony cases effectively.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage caseloads by reviewing cases for compliance with court orders and initiating enforcement remedies for non-compliance.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by addressing concerns, informing clients about available services, responding to inquiries, and updating case information.
  • Schedule enforcement hearings and bench warrants as needed.
  • Interpret financial data to assist in case evaluations.
  • Collaborate with division staff to resolve case issues efficiently.
  • Respond promptly to alerts and call center referrals.
  • Utilize technology systems such as NJKiDs, FACTS, JEDS, and eCourts for case management.
  • Perform related duties as assigned to support team functions.

Work Environment & Remote Work

The Judiciary offers a hybrid work schedule, allowing up to 2 days of remote work outside Judiciary buildings. To participate, you will need to install a multifactor authentication app and have high-speed internet access at home.

Note: If serving as a bilingual title, duties must be performed fluently in both English and Spanish.

Regular presence at the worksite is mandatory for this role.

Salary & Compensation

The salary range for this position is $46,785.80 to $88,550.66 for Schedule A, and $46,785.80 to $79,272.75 for Schedule B. Entry salary typically starts at the minimum of the range. For current employees, promotion or advancement results in a 5% increase of the base salary, respecting the maximum limit.

Note: Employees hired before August 21, 2014, are considered Schedule A; those hired on or after are Schedule B.

Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum Qualifications ✅

  • At least 2 years of paraprofessional casework experience involving collection, verification, and reporting of socioeconomic data, observations, record examination, interviews, and investigative reports.
  • Substitution option: 30 semester hours from an accredited college or university equals 1 year of experience.
  • Open to currently employed Judiciary staff holding the Investigator or Investigator Bilingual titles for lateral reassignment.

Bilingual Ability & Testing

  • Candidates must pass the New Jersey Civil Service Commission Bilingual Communicative Ability Test (BICAT) or demonstrate verified bilingual proficiency.

Physical & Other Requirements

  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as climbing, standing, stretching, bending, and reaching.
  • Frequent lifting of supplies from 30 to 50 pounds; occasional lifting up to 75 pounds.
  • Valid NJ driver’s license if vehicle operation is required.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.—citizenship not required.
  • Thorough background check and fingerprinting are mandatory for new hires.
  • Promise to establish and maintain principal residency in New Jersey within one year of hire, in accordance with the "New Jersey First Act."
