State of Maryland Is Hiring An Interviewer Translator

Position Details 📝

Grade: ASTD8

Location of Position: MDH - Somerset County Health Department, 8928 Sign Post Road, Westover, MD 21871

Main Purpose of Job 🎯

This position is responsible for interpreting and translating between English and Spanish for the Hispanic community. The employee is essential and must be available to report to work during emergencies or catastrophic events.

Minimum Qualifications 📋

Education 🎓

• Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience 💼

• Six months of experience providing formal interpretation and translation services between English and a second language, including documented volunteer work for a nonprofit, human service, or faith-based organization.

Notes 📝

• Candidates may substitute additional experience interpreting and translating between English and a second language on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
• Military service as a non-commissioned officer in Linguist or Language Capability classifications can also substitute for the required experience.

Selective Qualifications ⭐

• The selected candidate must be certified as a medical interpreter.

Desired or Preferred Qualifications 🌟

• Proficient technical skills (Google, Microsoft, Excel).
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Good time management skills.

Licenses, Registrations, and Certifications ✅

Employees may be assigned duties requiring motor vehicle operation and must possess a valid Maryland motor-vehicle operator’s license.
