Become an integral part of helping others come unto Christ by providing essential interpretation and translation services at the Missionary Training Center in Provo, Utah.

Job Description

This position plays a key role in supporting missionaries' efforts to 'Invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end.' Interpreters are dedicated, entry-level individual contributors who facilitate communication for non-English speaking missionaries and assist with translation projects and curriculum development.

Responsibilities

• Report to: Supervisor or trainer within the training department
• Interpret for over 25+ meetings that missionaries participate in during their stay at the MTC
• Translate assigned projects as directed by the manager
• Participate in team training meetings to enhance skills and collaboration
• Support in fostering an environment of harmony, trust, and good will within the department and the MTC
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Interpretation Coordinator
• Assist with temporary tasks such as Mission Leadership Seminar support and other activities at the MTC

Required Qualifications ✅

• At least 1 year of experience speaking a second language
• Native or near-native proficiency in both English and a second language, including mastery of grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and social nuances
• Well-developed interpretation skills
• High understanding of gospel terminology and usage, including Preach My Gospel
• Physical ability to sit for extended periods and operate equipment such as monitors and other devices

Preferred Qualifications 🌟

• One year of experience as an interpreter or translator
• Strong translation skills with well-developed capabilities
