What You Will Do 📝

As an ideal candidate, you should be able to provide:

• Experience with consecutive or simultaneous over-the-phone interpretation between a government representative and non-English speakers
• Polite expression, clear enunciation, and excellent customer service skills
• Accurate conveyance of concepts and meanings between speakers and Limited English Proficient (LEP) clients
• Proper grammar, clarity, and tone in both languages
• The ability to follow speaker directions, professionally interject for clarification, and manage conversation flow
• Maintain professionalism by avoiding side conversations or disputes with clients or LEP speakers
• Adherence to applicable ethics and standards
• Experience interpreting for government agencies

Minimum Qualifications ✅

• At least 1 year of over-the-phone consecutive or simultaneous interpreting experience
• Two professional references to verify your interpreting work
• Age: 18+ years old
• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
• Residency within the United States or its territories
• Full fluency in English and near-native proficiency in your target language
• Valid accreditation, such as:
  • American Translation Association (ATA)
  • Higher education institution training or accreditation
