We are seeking dependable and experienced interpreters fluent in both English and Punjabi to provide vital language support across NYC school districts. This is your chance to utilize your language skills, support students, teachers, and parents, and work in an adaptable environment.

Position Overview

The role involves providing on-site and remote interpretation services in school settings, especially during peak times, special projects, or staff absences. Interpreters will assist in facilitating communication among students, educators, and parents, ensuring understanding and clarity. Travel to various school sites within NYC is required.

Key Responsibilities

• Attend in-person and/or remote meetings involving parents, students, and staff to enable effective communication in English and Punjabi 🤝
• Interpret spoken language clearly and accurately, capturing tone and intent 🎙️
• Navigate language nuances, idioms, and slang that may not translate directly
• Assist with written and verbal communication as needed ✍️
• Translate conversations and documents while maintaining tone and meaning
• Build and foster strong relationships with clients, including parents, students, and staff ❤️
• Manage time efficiently, meet deadlines, and organize schedules 📅
• Participate in professional development and expand educational vocabulary 📚

Qualifications

• Native-level fluency in English and Punjabi, both spoken and written 🗣️✍️
• At least three years of professional experience in language services (preferred)
• Experience interpreting and translating between English and Punjabi
• Ability to travel to NYC school environments
• Reliable remote work setup with strong Wi-Fi and necessary equipment 💻
• Availability to accept assignments Monday through Friday
