As an on-call interpreter, you'll assist during peak times, special projects, or cover absences, both on-site and remotely. Your work will directly support students, teachers, and parents, helping facilitate clear communication in diverse educational environments. Key Skills & Qualifications

• Communication: Ability to professionally, concisely, and accurately communicate across cultures in verbal and written English and Punjabi.
• Fluency: Native-level proficiency in both English and Punjabi.
• Technological Skills: Proficiency with Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, and other remote communication platforms.
• Time Management: Capable of maintaining schedules and completing tasks punctually.
• Adherence to Policies: Follow policies and procedures outlined by the agency.
• Experience: Three or more years of professional language service experience preferred.

Interpreter Responsibilities

• Attend in-person or remote meetings to facilitate communication between parents, students, and school staff in English and Punjabi.
• Interpret accurately, conveying tone and intent while understanding nuances like idioms and slang.
• Assist with written and oral communication as needed.

Core Tasks

• Accurately interpret conversations and translate documents, maintaining original meaning and tone.
• Build and nurture strong relationships with clients, including parents, students, and staff.
• Manage schedules, assignments, and time effectively to meet deadlines.
• Connect with clients via virtual platforms, phone, and in person—ensuring prompt communication and attendance at meetings.
• Participate in ongoing professional development and expand educational vocabulary.

Qualifications

• Fluency in English and Punjabi (speaking, reading, and writing).
• Experience interpreting and translating between English and Punjabi.
• Willingness to travel to NYC school sites.
• Capability to work remotely with reliable Wi-Fi and necessary equipment.
• Availability Monday through Friday for assignments.
