About the Role

As an On-Call Interpreter, you will:

• Provide critical language support during school hours.
• Travel to school sites across NYC as needed.
• Assist students, teachers, and parents by translating and interpreting spoken and written communication.

Skills & Qualifications 🌟

• Communication: Convey messages professionally, concisely, and accurately in both verbal and written form across cultures in English and Punjabi.
• Fluency: Native-level proficiency in English and Punjabi required.
• Technological Skills: Proficient with Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, and other virtual communication tools.
• Time Management: Ability to adhere to schedules and complete tasks promptly.
• Policy Adherence: Follow procedures outlined by the agency.
• Experience: Three or more years of professional language service experience preferred.

Responsibilities 📋

• Accurately interpret conversations and translate written documents, maintaining original tone and intent.
• Build and nurture positive relationships with clients, including parents, students, and staff.
• Manage your schedule and assignments effectively to meet deadlines.
• Participate in virtual and in-person meetings, ensuring clear communication.
• Recognize cultural nuances, idioms, and slang, and interpret accordingly.
• Support written and oral communication as needed to facilitate understanding.
• Continuously develop your educational vocabulary and participate in professional growth opportunities.

Qualifications & Requirements ✅

• Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing in both English and Punjabi.
• Experience interpreting and translating in educational settings.
• Ability to travel to NYC school sites for on-site assignments.
• Strong remote-work setup with reliable Wi-Fi and necessary equipment.
• Availability Monday through Friday to accept assignments.
