About the Role

Language Service Agency is seeking dependable and experienced interpreters fluent in English and Punjabi. In this on-site and remote position, you will provide crucial language support during peak times, special projects, or to cover staff absences in various NYC school districts. This is an excellent opportunity to utilize your language skills, support students, teachers, and parents, and work in a flexible environment that adapts to your availability. 🚸

You Will

• Attend in-person and virtual meetings between parents, students, and school staff to facilitate clear communication in English and Punjabi 🤝
• Interpret spoken language accurately, conveying tone and intent while respecting language nuances
• Assist with written and oral communication as needed
• Travel to school sites as required to support your assignments

Key Skills & Qualifications

• Communication: Professionally and concisely communicate across cultures in both verbal and written forms in English and Punjabi
• Fluency: Native-level proficiency in both languages
• Technological Proficiency: Familiarity with Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, and other remote communication tools
• Time Management: Efficiently manage schedules and complete tasks on time
• Understanding and adherence to agency policies and procedures
• Preferred: At least three years of professional language service experience

Responsibilities

• Interpret and translate conversations and documents accurately, capturing tone and intent
• Build strong relationships with clients, including parents, students, and school staff
• Manage your workload effectively to meet deadlines
• Participate in meetings virtually or in person, ensuring timely and clear communication
• Continually enhance your vocabulary and engage in professional development

Qualifications

• Fluent in speaking, reading, and writing in English and Punjabi
• Proven experience interpreting and translating in both languages
• Ability to travel to NYC school districts as required
• Reliable remote setup with strong Wi-Fi and required equipment
• Availability to accept assignments Monday through Friday
