Position Overview

As an on-call interpreter, you will provide critical language support during peak times, special projects, or to cover absences. The role is on-site and remote, primarily within NYC school districts, assisting students, teachers, and parents. Flexibility and travel to school sites are essential.

Skills & Qualifications

• Communication ✨: Ability to professionally, concisely, and accurately communicate across cultures in both verbal and written formats in English and Punjabi.
• Fluency 🗣️: Native-level proficiency in both English and Punjabi.
• Technological Proficiency 💻: Experience with Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, and other remote communication tools.
• Time Management ⏰: Ability to adhere to schedules and complete tasks promptly.
• Compliance ✅: Ability to follow agency policies and procedures.
• Experience ⭐: Three or more years of professional language service experience preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Interpretation & Translation 🎤: Facilitate conversations and interpret documents accurately while conveying tone and intent.
• Relationship Building 🤝: Develop strong rapport with students, parents, and staff.
• Time & Task Management 🗓️: Organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
• Communication & Attendance 📞: Attend meetings virtually or in person, ensuring timely participation.
• Professional Growth 📚: Continuously expand educational vocabulary and pursue professional development opportunities.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Language Skills 🗣️: Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English and Punjabi.
• Experience 📄: Proven interpreting and translating experience in both languages.
• Travel Ability ✈️: Capable of traveling within NYC school districts for onsite appointments.
• Remote Work Setup 💻: Strong Wi-Fi connection and necessary equipment for remote work.
• Availability 🗓️: Ready to accept assignments Monday through Friday.
