Join Our Team as a Dependable On-Call Interpreter

Language Service Agency is seeking reliable and experienced interpreters fluent in English and Cantonese. This on-site and remote position offers you the chance to support students, teachers, and parents during peak times, special projects, or to cover absences — all in a role that adapts to your availability.

About the Role

• Provide critical language support in school settings throughout NYC school districts 🏫
• Travel to various school sites as needed 🚗
• Assist with interpretation during meetings and written communication
• Make a difference by facilitating understanding across cultures

Skills and Qualifications

• Communication Skills: Professionally, concisely, and accurately communicate verbally and in writing in both English and Cantonese 🗣️✍️
• Fluency: Native-Level proficiency in both languages
• Technological Proficiency: Familiarity with Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, and other platforms 💻
• Time Management: Maintain schedules and complete tasks promptly ⏰
• Ability to follow agency policies and procedures
• Minimum of three years of professional language service experience (preferred)

Key Responsibilities

• Interpret and translate conversations and documentation accurately, conveying tone and intent 🎙️📝
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients including parents, students, and school staff 🤝
• Manage your time and assignments effectively to meet deadlines
• Attend meetings virtually or in person, providing timely and clear communication
• Continuously enhance educational vocabulary and participate in professional development 📚

Qualifications

• Proficiency in speaking, writing, and reading English and Cantonese
• Experience interpreting and translating in both languages
• Ability to travel within NYC school districts
• Remote work capability with strong Wi-Fi and necessary equipment
• Availability Monday through Friday with a flexible schedule
