Job Overview

The Arabic/Sudanese Arabic Interpreter provides in-person and/or remote interpretation services to facilitate communication with accuracy, impartiality, and confidentiality. The role supports Limited English Proficient (LEP) individuals and their service providers, ensuring language needs are met effectively.

Activities include delivering professional interpretation, tracking assignments using software, and participating in trainings and assessments as needed.

Major Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate, impartial, and confidential interpretation in various settings such as clinics, hospitals, schools, community organizations, and government agencies.
  • Deliver services in person, via telephone, videoconference, or other virtual platforms.
  • Use designated software to track assignments and work hours.
  • Participate in relevant trainings and assessments to maintain quality standards.
  • Support special projects and initiatives as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Education and Certifications

  • High school diploma strongly preferred.
  • Interpretation certification preferred.

Work Experience

  • Relevant professional interpretation experience preferred.
  • Experience working with refugee and/or immigrant populations strongly preferred.

Skills & Competencies

  • Cultural sensitivity with the ability to build trust with clients, colleagues, and partners.
  • Proficiency in English (both spoken and written).
  • Spoken proficiency in Arabic is required.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in the work product.
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office suite).
  • Reliable transportation to appointment locations.

Working Environment

The position involves a combination of standard office work, remote tasks, and fieldwork within service delivery areas. Work may occasionally include weekend and evening hours.

Compensation & Benefits

Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates, calibrated based on factors such as location, experience, and internal equity.
