🌐 Overview

The International Corporate Banking Director is responsible for shaping and executing the bank’s strategy in acquiring, developing, and managing relationships with multinational companies operating within the U.S. through local subsidiaries. This high-level role demands expertise in global trade flows, complex credit structures, and fee-generating solutions like Trade Finance, Treasury Management, FX, and transactional services.

In collaboration with various departments such as Corporate Lending, Trade Finance, Treasury, Private Banking, and Risk, the Director ensures a seamless client experience, supports the personal banking needs of business owners and key decision-makers, and focuses on growth, risk management, and regulatory compliance.

🏢 Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Portfolio Ownership: Manage a portfolio of multinational corporate clients with U.S. operations, maintaining full P&L responsibility.
  • Business Development: Lead initiatives to grow the international corporate portfolio, including deposits, trade services, and cross-selling opportunities.
  • Credit Structuring: Design complex credit facilities such as working capital lines, capex loans, and cross-border lending tailored to client needs.
  • Fee-Based Services: Promote services like Standby LCs, Commercial LCs, collections, FX solutions, and Treasury Management to drive revenue.
  • Synergy Identification: Leverage connections between corporate banking and personal banking for owners and executives, providing seamless referrals.
  • Client Relationship Management: Serve as the primary contact to ensure client satisfaction, retention, and relationship health.
  • Internal Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams—Trade Services, Credit, Legal, Compliance, and Operations—to deliver tailored financial solutions.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to policies and external regulations, including BSA/AML/OFAC.
  • Monitoring & Risk Management: Regularly review client financial performance, industry trends, and potential risks for proactive intervention.
  • Annual Reviews & Covenant Monitoring: Oversee the completion of reviews and financial updates in partnership with risk teams.
  • Representation: Participate in industry events and forums to strengthen brand presence and network for new opportunities.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel domestically and internationally to meet clients as needed.

🎓 Qualifications

  • 8–10+ years of experience in Corporate Banking, with a focus on multinational clients.
  • Extensive background in Trade Services, Treasury Management, FX, and structured lending.
  • Proven ability to manage complex relationships and cross-border structures.
  • Advanced skills in financial analysis, credit risk assessment, and structuring.
  • Strong sales, negotiation, and revenue-generation capabilities.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish or Portuguese preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM systems.
  • Ability to travel as necessary and manage high-pressure client relationships.
  • Commitment to complying with bank policies on information security, data privacy, and compliance.
  • Leadership experience in coaching and developing teams of bankers and support staff.
  • Proven track record of meeting sales targets, regulatory requirements, and service standards.
  • Ability to foster collaboration, accountability, and innovation within teams.
  • Dedication to promoting a culture of regulatory excellence and customer-centric service.

🎓 Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, International Business, or a related field (or equivalent work experience) required.
  • Master’s Degree preferred.
