Job Summary
The HR Generalist plays a crucial role in supporting daily HR operations, focusing on employee relations, benefits administration, and retirement/401(k) programs. Serving as a resource for employees and managers — including a bilingual workforce — this role ensures compliance and fosters a positive, productive workplace culture. 🤝
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of HR best practices, proven experience in benefits and employee relations, excellent communication skills in both English and Spanish, and a proactive HR support approach.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
- Trusted advisor to employees and managers, providing HR support in English and Spanish, and promoting an inclusive environment 🌍
- Handle employee relations activities such as complaints, investigations, and documenting findings
- Provide coaching to managers on performance, discipline, conflict resolution, and corrective actions
- Administer benefits programs including health insurance, leave, and 401(k), ensuring timely resolution of inquiries 💰
- Communicate policies and programs clearly to a bilingual workforce in both English and Spanish
- Coordinate open enrollment and manage benefits communications, system updates, and data audits
- Support training delivery and employee communication initiatives
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local laws such as FMLA, ADA, and EEO
- Develop and communicate HR policies, ensuring consistent application
- Manage HR systems like HRIS and timekeeping systems, generating reports for decision-making 📊
- Collaborate with the HR team to improve processes and increase efficiency
- Perform other duties that support HR and business operations 📝
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
- 3–5 years of HR generalist experience, especially in benefits and employee relations, preferably in construction or industrial sectors
- Fluency in English and Spanish (written and verbal) 🗣️
- Strong knowledge of employee benefits, including health plans and retirement programs
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Proven problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities
- Highly organized with the capacity to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems
Preferred Qualifications
- HR certifications such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR
- Experience in construction industry or a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with training program development & delivery
- Ability to ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations
