City of New York Is Hiring A Housing Assistant - Bilingual (Spanish)

Join Our Team as a Bilingual Housing Assistant (80202) 🌟

We are seeking a dedicated Housing Assistant to provide vital support within the Leased Housing Department, working under the guidance of the Housing Manager and adhering to Department policies and procedures.

Position Overview 🏡

As a Housing Assistant, you will process service requests related to lease renewals and recertifications, respond to inquiries, and collaborate with various units within the Leased Housing Department to ensure timely and accurate case processing. This role requires fluency in Spanish and a commitment to excellent tenant service.

Key Responsibilities 💼

  • Perform annual and interim lease renewals and reviews
  • Ensure accuracy in lease renewal calculations and rent reasonableness determinations
  • Verify household income and employment
  • Investigate and confirm household document submissions
  • Create and process payment adjustments
  • Inform tenants about Housing Authority rules, regulations, and requirements
  • Review and process termination notices for noncompliance with recertification
  • Address information requests and correspondences
  • Report system issues and suggest enhancements for operational improvements
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements and Qualifications 🎓

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college
  • Or an associate degree or sixty semester credits plus one year of housing management experience
  • Or a high school diploma or educational equivalent plus three years of relevant full-time experience
  • Or a satisfactory combination of education and experience as detailed above

Foreign Language Proficiency 🗣️

Fluency in a foreign language required by NYC's Housing Authority, demonstrated through an oral proficiency test.

Preferred Skills ⭐

  • Excellent verbal and written communication capabilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Knowledge of Oracle Siebel application
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
