Position Overview
Join our team as an HL7 Integration Engineer (IE) for the Canadian region, overseeing all technical aspects of Synapse product HL7 integration—from installation and configuration to validation and go-live across all Synapse MI products. This role demands expert knowledge in medical informatics, IT infrastructure, medical imaging, and clinical workflows. Exceptional communication skills and customer satisfaction are essential components of this position.
Adaptability in dynamic multi-vendor environments, staying current with healthcare and IT trends, regulations, and hardware/software products, is crucial. The role involves collaboration with support teams, vendors, end-users, and internal groups to ensure seamless integration and documentation processes.

Job Description
Important: Bilingual Fluency Required
Fluent in French—both spoken and written—is a must for this role.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with the MI Project Management team to deliver high-quality Synapse solutions.
- Serve as the primary technical resource for HL7 implementation projects across Synapse product lines.
- Lead enterprise-level projects such as:
- Data migrations
- Interface integration and data conversion
- Integration of Synapse MI with third-party healthcare systems like EMR, PACS, RIS, HIS, VNA, etc.
- Follow internal communication standards using designated tools.
- Create extensive documentation including:
- Customer-specific solution designs
- Best practices documentation
- Stay updated on new Synapse and third-party products, participating in SME programs.
- Engage in non-project activities such as presentations and cross-team collaborations.
- Mentor and train peers, promoting knowledge transfer.
- Work independently as the lead technical resource for projects.
- Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Ensure compliance with company quality and regulatory standards, including FDA, ISO 13485, and other applicable laws.
Qualifications
- Technical professional experienced in designing, implementing, and documenting complex projects, with expert knowledge of healthcare IT and clinical environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Healthcare Informatics, or related field; or equivalent experience.
- Extensive experience with HL7 and DICOM standards, including HL7 v2, FHIR, and IHE profiles.
- Proficiency with databases such as SQL and Oracle for data validation.
- 4–5 years' experience in HL7 integration within hospital settings.
- Familiarity with electronic medical record systems like Epic, Cerner, Meditech, etc.
- Experience with Canadian health provinces’ public health record interfacing and image exchange repositories.
- Proficiency in scripting languages like Lua, JavaScript, Python, or similar.
- Hands-on experience with interface engines (e.g., Mirth Connect, Rhapsody, Iguana, etc.).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with vendors and clients.
- Strong problem-solving and project management skills.
- Ability to work independently, organize tasks efficiently, and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of healthcare workflows in radiology, cardiology, and pathology systems.
- Understanding of networking technologies, Windows OS, message queuing, TCP/IP, and virtualization tools.
- Experience working in healthcare or hospital environments is required.
- Fluent in English and French is highly preferred.

- Lift up to ten pounds as needed.
- Close vision for computer work.
- Travel may be up to 25% depending on business needs.
Salary & Benefits
Compensation ranges from $89,646.00 to $116,700.20 (dependent on experience), plus a 10% bonus opportunity. Benefits include:
