Position Overview
The HL7 Integration Engineer (IE) for the Canadian region is responsible for managing all technical activities related to Synapse product HL7 integrations, from installation and configuration to validation and go-live. This role requires deep expertise in medical informatics, IT infrastructure, medical imaging, and clinical workflows. Excellent communication skills are essential as the role involves collaboration with project teams, customers, and external vendors in a dynamic multi-vendor environment.
The ideal candidate stays current with healthcare trends, regulations, and a wide array of hardware and software products, ensuring effective relationships and communication channels with support teams, vendors, and administrative groups within Fujifilm. Documentation development, review, and publication are also key responsibilities.

Job Description
Requirements: Bilingual (French & English)
Fluency in French is mandatory for both speaking and writing.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Partner closely with the MI Project Management (PM) team to deliver high-quality Synapse solutions.
- Serve as the primary technical resource for HL7 implementation projects across Synapse product lines.
- Lead enterprise-level custom projects, including data migrations, interface integrations, and data conversions.
- Integrate Synapse MI with third-party healthcare systems like EMRs, PACS, RIS, HIS, VNA, and more.
- Follow internal communication and documentation standards, developing detailed customer-specific design documentation and best practices.
- Stay updated with new Synapse and third-party products, especially Canadian healthcare imaging and hospital systems.
- Participate in SME programs and contribute to internal and customer-facing knowledge sharing initiatives.
- Mentor peers, train teams, and engage in knowledge transfer activities.
- Work independently as the lead technical resource for projects, ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Ensure full compliance with quality, regulatory, and medical device standards such as FDA, ISO 13485, and applicable laws.
Qualifications
- Expert in designing, executing, and documenting complex technical projects within a healthcare setting.
- Strong understanding of radiology, cardiology, RIS, Synchronicity, Pathology, and VNA services.
- Proficient in HL7 (v2.1-2.8), DICOM, FHIR, IHE profiles, and interfacing EMR systems like Epic, Cerner, Meditech, etc.
- Experience with Canadian health provincial records and imaging exchanges.
- Skilled in scripting languages (Lua, JavaScript, Python) for data transformation and programming.
- Hands-on experience with interface engines such as Rhapsody, Mirth Connect, Cloverleaf, or Ensemble.
- Solid knowledge of databases (SQL, Oracle), networking (TCP/IP), VMware, and remote access tools.
- Minimum 4-5 years of HL7 integration experience in hospital environments.
- Fluency in both English and French (spoken and written).
- Excellent organizational, decision-making, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Healthcare Informatics, or related fields, or equivalent experience.
Physical & Travel Requirements
- Sitting and working on computers up to 100% of the time.
- Manual dexterity to manipulate keyboards and devices.
- Standing, talking, and hearing up to 75% of the workday.
- Lifting up to 10 pounds occasionally.
- Near vision capability.
- Occasional travel (~25%) based on business needs.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary ranges from $89,646.00 to $116,700.20 depending on experience, plus a 10% bonus opportunity. Benefits include:
