🔍 Position Overview
The HL7 Integration Engineer (IE) for the Canadian region oversees all technical aspects of Synapse product HL7 integration—spanning installation, configuration, validation, and go-live processes across all Synapse MI products. This role demands expert knowledge in medical informatics, IT infrastructure, medical imaging, and clinical workflow, combined with excellent communication skills to ensure top-tier customer experience.
The ideal candidate must excel in dynamic, multi-vendor environments, stay informed on healthcare and IT trends, and foster effective communication with various stakeholders, including technical support, field service, vendors, and administrative groups.
This role involves maintaining documentation, providing updates, and collaborating closely with internal and external teams to drive successful project outcomes.

Core Duties & Responsibilities
- Collaborate with MI Project Management to deliver high-quality Synapse solutions.
- Serve as the primary technical resource for HL7 implementation projects across Synapse product lines.
- Perform enterprise-level custom projects such as:
- Data migrations
- Interface integration and data conversion
- Integrate Synapse MI products with third-party healthcare information systems: dictation, EMR, PACS, CVIS, RIS, HIS, VNA.
- Follow internal communication guidelines, providing thorough documentation including customer-specific solutions and best practices.
- Learn and master new Synapse and third-party products, participating in SME programs.
- Engage in team meetings, cross-functional projects, and knowledge transfer initiatives.
- Lead projects independently with a focus on customer satisfaction.
- Adhere to quality, regulatory, and compliance standards (FDA, ISO 13485, etc.).
Qualifications & Skills
- Experienced technical professional in complex project execution, with expert understanding of healthcare IT systems in clinical environments.
- Educational background: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Healthcare Informatics, or related; or equivalent experience.
- Proficient in HL7 and DICOM standards; familiarity with HL7 v2, FHIR, IHE profiles.
- Strong database knowledge (SQL, Oracle) with data querying/validation skills.
- 4-5 years HL7 integration experience in hospital settings.
- Competent with EMR systems like Epic, Cerner, Meditech, etc., and Canadian Health Province reporting requirements.
- Knowledge of scripting languages (Lua, JavaScript, Python) for data transformation.
- Hands-on experience with interface engines such as Rhapsody, Mirth, Cloverleaf, etc.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, leadership, and project management skills.
- Ability to work independently in a multi-disciplinary, matrix environment.
- Understanding of network technologies (TCP/IP, MS Windows, MS Message Queuing, VMWare).
- Experience in healthcare fields like Radiology, Cardiology, or EMR workflows is required.
- Fluency in English and French is a must, with strong interpersonal skills.
Physical & Travel Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, and manipulate items for up to 75-100% of work time.
- Lifting up to 10 pounds occasionally.
- Visual acuity sufficient for detailed work.
- Occasional travel (up to 25%) as dictated by business needs.
💰 Salary & Benefits
Salary Range: $89,646.00 - $116,700.20 (based on experience) plus a 10% bonus
