🌟 Position Overview
The HL7 Integration Engineer (IE) for the Canadian region is responsible for managing all technical aspects of Synapse product HL7 integration— from installation, configuration, validation to product go-live across all Synapse MI products. This role requires expert knowledge in medical informatics, IT infrastructure, medical imaging industry standards, and clinical workflows.
In addition to technical skills, the HL7 IE plays a key role in ensuring industry-leading customer satisfaction through excellent communication and collaboration with project teams and clients. The ideal candidate must thrive in a dynamic multi-vendor environment and stay current with healthcare trends, regulations, and technologies.
This role involves interaction with technical support, field service teams, end users, vendors, and various administrative groups to facilitate smooth processes from order to remittance, maintaining documentation, and facilitating knowledge transfer.

Note: Bilingual proficiency in French (speaking and writing fluently) is mandatory.
🛠️ Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with MI Project Management to deliver high-quality Synapse solutions.
- Serve as the primary technical resource for HL7 implementation projects across Synapse product lines.
- Perform enterprise-level projects including:
- Data migrations
- Interface integrations and data conversions
- Integrate Synapse MI with third-party healthcare systems such as EMR, PACS, CVIS, RIS, HIS, VNA
- Follow internal communication guidelines diligently using designated tools.
- Develop detailed documentation including customer solutions, best practices, and internal processes.
- Stay current with new Synapse and third-party products, participating in SME programs.
- Engage in non-project activities: team presentations, cross-functional projects.
- Mentor peers and contribute to knowledge transfer initiatives.
- Operate independently as the leading technical resource on projects.
- Consistently deliver superior customer satisfaction.
- Ensure adherence to quality standards, regulatory requirements, including FDA, ISO 13485, and other applicable laws.
🎓 Qualifications
- Technical professional with experience in complex project execution, with expert knowledge of Medical IT in radiology, cardiology, RIS, VNA, and related fields.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Healthcare Informatics, or a related field (or equivalent experience). AA with related industry experience is acceptable.
- Proficient in HL7, DICOM standards, and database querying (SQL, Oracle).
- 4–5 years of HL7 integration experience within hospital environments.
- Strong working knowledge of HL7 v2, DICOM, FHIR, and IHE profiles.
- Experience with EMR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athena, Meditech, etc.
- Familiarity with Canadian healthcare data exchange requirements and imaging repositories.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (Lua, JavaScript, Python), and experience with interface engines (e.g., Rhapsody, Mirth Connect, Cloverleaf).
- Excellent communication skills in English and French, with the ability to transfer knowledge effectively.
- Strong problem-solving, project management, and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of healthcare network systems, TCP/IP, MS Windows environments, and remote access tools.
- Related healthcare field experience required, with expertise in Radiology, Cardiology, and EMR workflows highly preferred.

Range: $89,646 – $116,700 + 10% Bonus
