We are seeking an experienced HL7 Integration Engineer to lead technical efforts in integrating Synapse products within the Canadian healthcare environment, ensuring seamless implementation, configuration, validation, and go-live support.

🔍 Position Overview

The HL7 Integration Engineer (IE) for the Canadian region is responsible for overseeing all technical aspects of Synapse HL7 integration, from install to go-live, across all Synapse MI products. The ideal candidate will possess expert knowledge in medical informatics, IT infrastructure, medical imaging, and clinical workflows. Strong communication skills are essential to ensure client satisfaction and effective collaboration with project teams and external stakeholders.

This role requires adaptability in a multi-vendor, dynamic environment, staying current with trends, regulations, and hardware/software product evolution. Interaction with technical support, vendors, end users, and administrative staff is fundamental, with an emphasis on developing relationships and maintaining documentation.

💼 Duties & Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with MI Project Management to deliver high-quality Synapse solutions.
  • Serve as the primary technical resource for HL7 implementation projects across Synapse product lines.
  • Execute enterprise-level custom projects:
    • Data migrations
    • Interface integration & data conversion
  • Integrate Synapse MI with third-party healthcare info systems (dictation, EMR, PACS, CVIS, RIS, HIS, VNA).
  • Follow internal communication protocols and document project progress.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation:
    • Customer design solutions
    • Best practice guidelines
  • Stay current with new Synapse and third-party products, especially EMR systems in Canadian healthcare settings.
  • Participate in SME programs and internal activities, including presentations and cross-team collaborations.
  • Mentor colleagues and transfer knowledge effectively.
  • Lead projects independently, delivering high customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure adherence to quality, regulatory, and compliance standards, including FDA, ISO 13485, and other applicable laws.

🎓 Qualifications & Skills

  • Technical expertise in designing and executing complex projects in healthcare IT, especially in radiology, cardiology, RIS, and VNA services.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Healthcare Informatics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Extensive experience with HL7 and DICOM standards, with 4-5 years specializing in HL7 integration within hospital environments.
  • Proficiency with HL7 v2, FHIR, IHE profiles, and EMR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Meditech, etc.
  • Knowledge of Canadian health records interfacing and diagnostic imaging exchanges.
  • Scripting skills (Lua, JavaScript, Python) and experience with interface engines (e.g., Mirth Connect, Rhapsody).
  • Strong communication skills in English and French.
  • Experience with databases (SQL, Oracle) and healthcare network technologies (TCP/IP, MS Windows, VMWare).
  • Excellent problem-solving, project management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously, multi-task efficiently, and interact effectively across teams.

🖥️ Physical & Travel Requirements

  • Ability to sit and use hands extensively (up to 100%).
  • Stand, talk, and hear for up to 75% of work time.
  • Lift and carry items up to ten pounds (20% of the time).
  • Occasional travel required (up to 25%).

💰 Salary & Benefits

Salary range: $89,646.00 – $116,700.20 (commensurate with experience) plus a 10% bonus.
