The HL7 Integration Engineer (IE) for the Canadian region oversees all technical aspects of Synapse product HL7 integration, from installation and configuration to validation and go-live for all Synapse MI products. This role requires expert knowledge in medical informatics, IT infrastructure, medical imaging, and clinical workflows. Excellent communication skills and industry-leading customer satisfaction are paramount, as you will work with internal teams, customers, vendors, and support groups in a dynamic multi-vendor environment.

🔧 Duties & Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with MI Project Management to ensure high-quality Synapse solutions.
  • Act as the primary technical resource for HL7 implementation projects across Synapse products.
  • Perform enterprise-level custom projects such as data migrations, interface integrations, and data conversions.
  • Integrate Synapse MI products with third-party healthcare information systems (e.g., EMR, PACS, RIS, HIS, VNA).
  • Develop extensive documentation: solution designs, best practices, and procedures.
  • Learn new Synapse and third-party products, staying current with healthcare IT trends.
  • Engage in industry-specific presentations and cross-functional internal projects.
  • Mentor peers, conduct knowledge transfer, and lead technical efforts independently.
  • Maintain high customer satisfaction and ensure compliance with quality and regulatory standards.
  • Adhere to FDA, ISO 13485, and other applicable healthcare regulations.

🎓 Qualifications

  • Expert knowledge of medical informatics, radiology, cardiology, RIS, VNA, and clinical workflows.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Healthcare Informatics, or related field; or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 4-5 years’ experience in HL7 integration within hospital environments.
  • Deep understanding of HL7 v2, DICOM, FHIR, and IHE profiles.
  • Familiar with EMR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athena, Meditech, etc.
  • Experience working with Canadian public health records and diagnostic imaging exchanges.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (Lua, JavaScript, Python) and interface engines (e.g., Mirth Connect, Rhapsody).
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, and organize effectively in a matrix environment.
  • Knowledge of computer networks, TCP/IP, MS Windows, VMWare, and healthcare IQ systems.
  • Fluency in both English and French is strongly preferred.

🩺 Physical & Travel Requirements

This role requires the ability to:

  • Sit up to 75-100% of the time.
  • Use hands for repetitive tasks, including typing.
  • Stand, talk, and listen for up to 75% of the time.
  • Lifting up to ten pounds occasionally.

Travel up to 25% may be required based on business needs.

💰 Salary & Benefits

  • Salary: $89,646.00 - $116,700.20 (commensurate with experience) + 10% bonus opportunity
