The HL7 Integration Engineer (IE) for the Canadian region plays a critical role in overseeing all technical aspects of Synapse product HL7 integration, spanning from installation, configuration, and validation to product go-live for all Synapse MI products. This position demands expert knowledge in medical informatics, IT infrastructure, clinical workflows, and the medical imaging industry. Exceptional communication skills and experience working in dynamic multi-vendor healthcare environments are essential to ensure industry-leading customer satisfaction.

Job Description

Responsibilities
- Collaborate with MI Project Management (PM) team to deliver high-quality Synapse solutions.
- Serve as the primary technical resource for HL7 implementation projects across Synapse products.
- Execute enterprise-level custom projects, including data migrations, interface integrations, and data conversions.
- Integrate Synapse MI products with third-party healthcare systems such as EMR, PACS, CVIS, RIS, HIS, and VNA.
- Follow internal communication and documentation standards, including designing customer-specific solutions and best practices.
- Continuously learn new Synapse and third-party products, especially EMR systems in the Canadian healthcare environment.
- Participate in SME programs and contribute to internal presentations and cross-functional projects.
- Mentor peers and transfer knowledge effectively.
- Work independently as the lead technical resource for projects.
- Maintain compliance with company quality, regulatory, and standards requirements, including FDA, ISO 13485, and applicable laws.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.
Qualifications
- Proven experience designing, deploying, and documenting complex technical projects, especially in healthcare settings.
- Expertise in medical informatics, including radiology, cardiology, RIS, Synchronicity, and VNA services.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Healthcare Informatics, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 4-5 years of HL7 integration experience in hospital environments.
- Deep knowledge of HL7 v2 (ADT, ORM, ORU, SIU, DFT, MDM), DICOM, FHIR, and IHE profiles.
- Experience with EMR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Meditech, and others, including Canadian healthcare interfacing requirements.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (Lua, JavaScript, Python) for data transformation.
- Hands-on experience with interface engines like Mirth Connect, Rhapsody, Cloverleaf, Iguana, etc.
- Knowledge of database systems (SQL, Oracle) for data querying and validation.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and coordinate across teams in a matrix environment.
- Experience with medical network technologies, MS Windows OS, VMWare, TCP/IP, and remote access tools.
- Bilingual English/French skills are highly preferred.
Physical & Travel Requirements
- Sit for up to 75–100% of work time.
- Use hands and fingers for manipulations, up to 100% of work time.
- Stand, talk, and hear for approximately 75% of the time.
- Lift and carry up to 10 pounds approximately 20% of the time.
- Requires close vision within 20 inches.
- Occasional travel up to 25%, depending on business needs.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: $89,646.00 - $116,700.20 (based on experience) + 10% Bonus Opportunity
