Position Overview
The HL7 Integration Engineer (IE) for the Canadian region oversees all technical aspects of Synapse product HL7 integration, from installation, configuration, and validation phases through to product go-live for all Synapse MI products. This role requires expert-level knowledge in medical informatics, IT infrastructure design and deployment, medical imaging industry standards, and clinical workflow environments. In addition to technical expertise, the HL7 IE is responsible for delivering industry-leading customer satisfaction through excellent communication and verbal skills within project teams and external customers. 🤝

Job Description
Note: BILINGUAL REQUIREMENT: Must speak and write fluent French.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with the MI Project Management (PM) team to deliver high-quality Synapse product solutions.
- Serve as the primary technical resource for HL7 implementation projects across Synapse product lines.
- Perform enterprise-level custom projects, including:
- Data migrations
- Interface integration and data conversion
- Integration of Synapse MI products with third-party healthcare information systems (e.g., EMRs, PACS, RIS, HIS, VNA)
- Follow internal project communication guidelines using provided tools.
- Develop extensive documentation:
- Customer-specific solution design documents
- Best practice guides
- Learn new Synapse and third-party products, particularly EMR systems used in Canadian healthcare imaging and hospital environments.
- Participate in SME programs, team meetings, and internal cross-functional projects.
- Mentor, train, and actively transfer knowledge to peers.
- Work independently as the lead technical resource on projects.
- Consistently deliver high customer satisfaction.
- Adhere to all quality and regulatory compliance standards, ensuring all duties meet company policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with applicable US and international medical device regulations, such as FDA and ISO standards.
Qualifications
- Technical professional with experience in designing, implementing, documenting, and executing complex technical projects in a healthcare environment.
- Expert understanding of Information Technologies, particularly in radiology, cardiology, RIS, Synchronicity, Anatomic Pathology, and VNA services.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Healthcare Informatics, or a related field, or equivalent experience. AA degree acceptable with significant industry experience.
- Proficient in HL7 and DICOM standards, with 4-5 years experience in hospital HL7 integrations.
- Strong knowledge of HL7 v2 (ADT, ORM, ORU, SIU, DFT, MDM), DICOM, FHIR, and IHE profiles.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athena, Meditech, and others.
- Experience with interfacing requirements for Canadian Health Provinces and Diagnostic Imaging Repositories.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (Lua, JavaScript, Python) and hands-on experience with interface engines (e.g., Rhapsody, Mirth Connect).
- Excellent communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and project management expertise.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and operate effectively in a matrix environment.
- Strong understanding of network technologies, including TCP/IP, MS Windows OS, and related tools.
- Experience in healthcare-specific workflows and clinical information systems.
- Preference given to bilingual candidates fluent in English and French.
Physical Requirements
- Sit or stand for up to 75-100% of work time.
- Use hands and fingers for manipulation (keyboards, devices) up to 100% of work time.
- Lift and carry up to 10 pounds (up to 20% of work time).
- Close vision within twenty inches or less.
Travel
Occasional travel required, up to 25%, based on business needs. ✈️

- Salary ranging from $89,646.00 to $116,700.20 plus a 10% bonus opportunity.
