We are seeking a highly skilled HL7 Integration Engineer with fluency in French and English to oversee critical technical implementations within our healthcare solutions. This role involves leading complex integrations, collaborating with diverse teams, and ensuring top-tier customer satisfaction in a dynamic environment.
Position Overview 🩺
The HL7 Integration Engineer (IE) for the Canadian region is responsible for managing all technical aspects of the Synapse product HL7 integration — from installation, configuration, validation, to go-live across all Synapse MI offerings. The ideal candidate possesses expert knowledge in medical informatics, IT infrastructure, medical imaging, and clinical workflows. Strong communication skills and customer focus are essential, as this role involves collaboration with project teams, vendors, and clients in a fast-paced, multi-vendor environment.
This position requires staying current on healthcare and IT trends, regulations, and hardware/software products, while maintaining relationships across technical support, field services, vendors, and internal teams to ensure seamless project execution and documentation.

Key Duties and Responsibilities 🚀
- Collaborate with MI Project Management to deliver high-quality Synapse solutions.
- Serve as the primary technical resource for HL7 implementation projects across various product lines.
- Lead enterprise-level custom projects including data migrations, interface integrations, and data conversions.
- Integrate Synapse MI products with third-party healthcare systems like EMR, PACS, RIS, HIS, VNA, and more.
- Develop comprehensive documentation for customer-specific solutions and best practices.
- Engage with new product features and participate in SME programs.
- Mentor peers, conduct training sessions, and facilitate knowledge transfer.
- Ensure excellent customer satisfaction and adherence to quality and regulatory standards (FDA, ISO 13485).
- Maintain and review technical documentation periodically.
- Coordinate with vendors, support teams, and stakeholders, fostering effective communication channels.
- Participate in team meetings, internal projects, and process improvements.
Qualifications & Skills 📋
- Expert understanding of HL7, DICOM standards, and healthcare IT systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Healthcare Informatics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 4-5 years of HL7 integration experience in a hospital environment.
- Proficiency with databases (SQL, Oracle), scripting languages (Lua, JavaScript, Python), and interface engines (e.g., Mirth Connect, Rhapsody).
- Experience with EMR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athena, Meditech, and Canadian public health records interfacing.
- Strong understanding of PACS, RIS, Synchronicity, and related workflows.
- Ability to work independently in multi-tasking, fast-paced settings with excellent organizational skills.
- Fluent in both English and French (spoken and written).
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, leadership, and project management capabilities.
- Knowledge of network infrastructure, high-performance computing, and healthcare IT standards.
Physical & Travel Requirements 🚶♂️✈️
- Ability to sit, stand, and manipulate items for extended periods.
- Capable of lifting up to 10 pounds approximately 20% of the time.
- Close vision skills required.
- Occasional travel (~25%) required based on business needs.
