The Senesh School Is Hiring A Hebrew Teacher
The Senesh School, an open and inclusive K–8 Jewish independent school located in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn, is hiring a passionate Hebrew Teacher for the 2026–27 academic year—full-time or part-time options available.
About the Position
Our Hebrew program is rooted in the Proficiency Approach, engaging students through Israeli stories, authentic texts, songs, games, and celebrations. Instruction emphasizes listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills, fostering meaningful and joyful Hebrew language use. Hebrew is integrated throughout daily school life, making learning immersive, purposeful, and engaging.

Salary Range
$70,000–$80,000 (pro-rated, depending on experience)

Responsibilities
- Develop a warm, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment
- Teach Hebrew classes and support emergent language learners
- Maintain accurate documentation of curriculum and student progress
- Integrate Hebrew into daily school life through special programs, holidays, and experiences
- Differenti instruction to meet diverse learner needs
- Build strong partnerships with parents to support student growth
- Collaborate with grade-level teams on community programming and student support
- Attend weekly division and department meetings, as well as professional development opportunities
Qualifications
- Native or fluent Hebrew speaker with strong pedagogical skills; Hebrew immersion experience preferred
- Master’s degree in education or a related field preferred
- Specialized training and experience in second language acquisition
- Experience teaching Hebrew using the Proficiency Approach and ACTFL guidelines
- Ability to effectively integrate technology to support language learning
- Commitment to a whole child approach—supporting students academically, socially, and emotionally
- Strong cultural competency and dedication to diversity, equity, belonging, and inclusivity within the Jewish community
- Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills across disciplines
