The Role & Responsibilities 🎯
We seek a passionate Hebrew Teacher to deliver engaging, standards-based instruction, implement Responsive Classroom techniques, and collaborate with colleagues to enhance teaching practices. We strongly encourage candidates from underrepresented groups to apply!
What You'll Do:
- Respect and uphold high academic standards, believing all students can learn.
- Commit to ongoing professional growth through self-reflection and feedback.
- Create and submit weekly lesson plans aligned with the school's proficiency-based curriculum and second language acquisition principles.
- Deliver immersive Hebrew lessons; communicate exclusively in Hebrew during class.
- Design, analyze, and document formative and summative assessments to monitor achievement and language proficiency.
- Maximize learning through effective classroom management and engaging instructional techniques.
- Create an inviting and dynamic learning environment suited to developmental needs.
- Possess mastery or deep knowledge in Hebrew, supported by relevant education (major, minor, or graduate degree).
- Demonstrate student achievement growth in prior roles.
- Collaborate with faculty and instructional leaders to ensure curriculum coherence.
- Build relationships with families through ongoing communication and engagement.
- Bring enthusiasm, energy, and solutions-oriented thinking to classroom and staff interactions.
- Participate in curriculum development and evaluate effectiveness in practice.
Candidate Profile 💡
- Fluent in Hebrew (native or near-native) and strong English communication skills.
- Knowledge of language acquisition and proficiency-based instruction methods.
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred.
- Previous K-12 lead teaching experience is a plus.
- Experience in urban, public charter, or Title I schools is a plus.
- NY teaching certification or progress towards certification is a plus.
- Authorized to work legally in the USA.
