Frankel Jewish Academy Is Hiring A Hebrew Teacher

Join the dedicated team at Frankel Jewish Academy (FJA) as we seek a passionate Hebrew Instructor for the 2023-2024 school year to inspire students in Hebrew language and Israeli culture! 🇮🇱✨

Position: Hebrew Instructor

We are currently accepting applications from qualified candidates who are native Hebrew speakers or hold a university degree with extensive high school teaching experience. The ideal candidate will bring a proficiency-based approach to language learning, teamwork, enthusiasm, and a passion for Israeli culture.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Lesson Plans and Course Development

  • Plan, evaluate, and revise curricula, course content, materials, and instructional methods to ensure successful learning outcomes.
  • Prepare course materials such as syllabi, homework, handouts, and exams.
  • Utilize technology to enhance and enrich student learning experiences.

Instruction

  • Prepare and deliver engaging lectures; maintain a Hebrew immersion environment where most of the instruction is conducted in Hebrew.
  • Facilitate classroom discussions to promote active engagement.
  • Evaluate and grade student work, including assignments, papers, and exams.
  • Maintain office hours to advise and support students.
  • Record-keeping: Attendance, grades, and other required reports.
  • Continuous learning: Demonstrate enthusiasm for professional growth and development.
  • Technology integration: Embrace FJA’s one-to-one technology environment to enhance teaching.

Communal Responsibilities

  • Support the mission of the school.
  • Uphold professional standards at FJA.
  • Collaborate closely with the Head of Hebrew Department.
  • Participate in school and community events.
  • Stay current in the field by reading scholarly articles and attending professional conferences.
  • Engage in professional development activities, including some on Sundays.
  • Contribute to a professional learning community through mentoring, peer coaching, and study groups.

General Requirements

  • A criminal background check is mandatory for all employees.
  • Legal verification of identity and employment eligibility in the U.S.
  • References and transcripts may be required.
