We are looking for a talented Hebrew proofreader with image-editing skills to work on a nuanced photo-book project that combines standalone Hebrew text and embedded Hebrew within designed images. 📚✏️

Job Overview

This position involves meticulous proofreading, editing, and image modification to ensure the highest accuracy and quality for a printed hardcover publication. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining the integrity of Hebrew text across various formats and visual elements.

Key Responsibilities

• Proofreading and Correcting Text

  Review all Hebrew content, including JSON overlay files used for rendering Hebrew on posters, and make necessary corrections.

• Image Text Verification

  Identify Hebrew within artwork images—distinguishing between intentional ELS (Extended Letter Sequences) that must remain unchanged and ordinary Hebrew needing correction.

• Image Editing

  Edit or replace Hebrew text within images when rendered text is inaccurate, ensuring consistency and correctness.

• Deliverables & Documentation

  Provide all modified files (images, JSON, text) to the project repository along with a detailed page-by-page summary explaining what was checked, modified, and the rationale behind changes.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Native or near-native proficiency in Hebrew
• Experience proofreading Biblical Hebrew, including niqqud and gematria conventions
• Basic image editing skills (Photoshop, GIMP, or similar tools)
• Familiarity with the Tanakh and Masoretic vocalization is a strong plus
• Exceptional attention to detail—since this is a printed, hardcover book, accuracy is critical
