Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated educator to create a flexible grade program and nurturing classroom environment that fosters learning and personal growth. The ideal candidate will build strong relationships with students, parents, and staff, inspiring students to develop essential skills, attitudes, and knowledge aligned with their abilities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teaching & Instruction: Teach Hebrew, Judaic Studies, and social/emotional skills in various classroom settings utilizing approved curricula and engaging activities.
  • Curriculum Development: Develop lesson plans and instructional materials, providing individualized and small group instruction, and adapting lessons as needed.
  • Instructional Strategies: Incorporate diverse teaching methods such as inquiry, discussion, lectures, and discovery-based activities.
  • Classroom Management: Establish and uphold behavioral standards to create a positive learning environment.
  • Assessment & Record-Keeping: Evaluate students' academic and social growth, maintain records, and prepare progress reports.
  • Parent & Staff Communication: Discuss student progress with parents through conferences and other channels; collaborate with colleagues on curriculum and programming.
  • Student Support: Identify student needs, assist with health and learning concerns, and support pre-algebra and algebra content.
  • Classroom Environment: Create engaging displays and interest centers to facilitate learning.
  • Professional Development: Maintain professional competence through in-service activities and growth opportunities.
  • Testing & Curriculum Development: Administer standardized tests and participate in curriculum development initiatives.
  • Special Education & Student Support: Serve as case manager, develop and review ISP and 504 plans, and implement intervention strategies tailored to individual student needs.
  • Collaborations & Committees: Work with school staff, outside providers, and participate in faculty committees and student activities.
  • Best Teaching Practices: Demonstrate commitment to effective teaching principles based on the Thoughtful Classroom framework, promoting organization, positive relationships, engagement, and reflective learning.

Qualifications

  • Fluent in Hebrew 🗣️
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited university 🎓
  • Illinois teaching certificate 📜
  • Experience is preferred but not required for hiring.
