Job Summary

🌐 Summary: A Language Bank Interpreter provides professional interpretation services to support effective communication between individuals with limited English proficiency and various service providers in judicial proceedings, healthcare, or social service environments.

Pay Range

Salary: $26.05 - $27.83 per hour

The pay range listed is the authorized range for this position based in Massachusetts and Vermont, where pay transparency laws apply. Final offers are determined by factors such as skills, experience, location, and qualifications.

Responsibilities

• 💬 Render messages faithfully, conveying both content and spirit of the speaker using understandable language.
• ⌛ Be dependable, reliable, and prompt at all times.
• 🔒 Keep all assignment-related information strictly confidential.
• 🗣️ Perform any of the three interpreting modes: consecutive, simultaneous, and sight-translation as needed.
• 🤝 Accept assignments with discretion, considering skills, setting, and clients involved.
• 💼 Conduct oneself professionally, demonstrating appropriate appearance and conduct.
• 📜 Follow the interpreter code of ethics for medical and legal settings, such as those by IMIA, NAJIT, and NCIHC.
• 🔧 Perform other related duties as needed to support team and organizational goals.

Qualifications

• 🎓 High School Diploma or GED required; two years of college preferred.
• 🌟 Demonstrate advanced proficiency in English and the target language.
• ✔️ Provide effective, accurate, and impartial interpretation both receptively and expressively.
• 🎓 Certified through nationally recognized interpreting training programs.
• 📝 Two years of related experience preferred.
• ✅ Acceptable criminal background check.
• 🚗 Willing to travel and adapt to a flexible schedule.
