🔍 Position Overview

The Haitian Creole & French Medical VRI is responsible for managing on-demand audio and video calls to assist our limited English proficient (LEP) community and practitioners across industries such as Healthcare, Government, Community, and Education. 🌍🎥

🛠️ Job Functions

• Provide effective video and audio interpreting sessions in a professional manner.
• Capture company-provided data during interpreting sessions when required.
• Demonstrate adaptability to new and evolving technologies.
• Adhere to interpreter ethical standards and procedural requirements.
• Show cultural sensitivity and ability to work in diverse environments.
• Respect and understand our LEP clients, culture, dialect, beliefs, and preferences.
• Maintain a strong passion for customer service and interpreting.
• Keep a professional demeanor during all sessions.
• Speak clearly in both languages with proper pronunciation and polite expressions.
• Render accurate concepts and meanings following protocol.

🎓 Qualifications

• Fluent in both source and target languages (Haitian to English and vice versa).
• Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills.
• Successful completion of a proficiency assessment or hold a national certification.
• Extensive knowledge of ethics and standards of practice (IMIA, NBCMI, NCIHC).
• Work environment compliant with HIPAA.
• Must be at least 18 years old.

🌟 Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to read and write in requested languages.
• Degrees or certifications in interpreting practices.
• National Medical Interpreter Certification by CCHI, NBCMI, or DSHS.
• Completion of accredited medical interpreting training courses (e.g., ALTA, MITS, Bridging the Gap, MiTio, Cross-Cultural Training, 40-hour courses).
