As Haaretz continues to grow, we are seeking a dedicated and experienced editor to lead our U.S.-based team of staff writers, columnists, and freelancers. This position involves shaping coverage on Israel-U.S. relations, antisemitism, threats to liberal democracy, Jewish life in America, Palestinian and Muslim communities, and Middle East-U.S. political intersections during a period of unprecedented tension. 📈✍️

Position: Full-time U.S.-based Editor (East Coast preferred) Location: United States

📝 Responsibilities

• Commission and oversee content: Assign news stories, features, and analyses to a growing team of North American journalists and freelancers, ensuring quality and accuracy.
• Manage workflow: Maintain daily communication with writers and editors, plan coverage strategies, and coordinate with Haaretz’s main hub in Tel Aviv.
• Collaborate across departments: Work with photographers, video journalists, social media and newsletter teams, marketing, conference organizers, and podcast producers to produce top-tier journalism.

🎯 Qualifications & Skills

• Deep knowledge of: U.S. Jewish politics, Jewish communities in America, Israel, the Middle East, and global affairs.
• Leadership capabilities: Experience managing a team, developing strategies, and handling breaking news effectively.
• Experience: Minimum five years in an editing role within a news organization, preferably with a global focus.
• Language skills: Excellent command of English (reading, writing, editing); Hebrew proficiency is a plus.
• Personal attributes: Self-motivated, proactive, adaptable to tight deadlines and irregular hours.
• Talent development: Passionate about discovering emerging writers, mentoring young talent, and acquiring new skills.
