📝 Minimum Qualifications

The department is committed to hiring skilled educators for every classroom. The basic requirement (except for designated Career and Technology Education (CTE) positions) is a Bachelor's Degree.

If hired without completing a Teacher's Education Program, you have a maximum of 3 years to obtain a valid Hawaii teaching license. During this period, you must:

• Enroll in a Teacher Education Program to continue employment.
• Demonstrate active progress annually towards meeting Hawaii licensing requirements, as set by the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board (HTSB).

It is your responsibility to ensure your enrolled program aligns with your teaching line.

Upon hire, you must possess a valid Hawaii teaching license or an Emergency Hire Permit. You can apply for your Hawaii teaching license via the Hawai'i Teacher Standards Board Website. 🎓
