Minimum Qualifications 📝

The Hawaii State Department of Education seeks highly qualified educators. The basic requirements are:

  • A Bachelor's Degree for most teaching, librarian, or counselor positions (excluding designated Career and Technology Education roles). 🎓

If hired without a completed Teacher’s Education Program, you have a maximum of three years to obtain a valid Hawaii teaching license. During this period, you must demonstrate active effort towards meeting Hawaii licensing requirements as outlined by the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board (HTSB). Ensure your enrolled program aligns with your teaching line.
