Position Overview 📝

Role: Part-time French-speaking Substitute Teacher

Grade Levels: PreK3 to 5th Grade (Lower School)

School Year: 2025-2026

Reporting to the Lower School Director, this role involves weekday assignments as needed, fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities 🎓

  • Lesson Planning & Instruction: Develop and teach challenging, developmentally appropriate lessons with differentiated instruction and assessments.
  • Classroom Environment: Create an inclusive, positive atmosphere that promotes learning and engagement.
  • Parent Communication: Maintain outstanding communication through individualized emails, newsletters, or blogs, sharing evaluations, grades, and homework efficiently.
  • Student Engagement: Foster a student-centered classroom that actively involves learners in their education.
  • Use of Technology: Incorporate technology thoughtfully in lesson preparation and instruction, not relying solely on it.
  • Cultural & Intellectual Modeling: Demonstrate curiosity and open-mindedness about different cultures and ideas.
  • Classroom Management: Use positive reinforcement, manage discipline, and resolve conflicts appropriately.
  • Professional Conduct: Conduct classes with integrity and model suitable behavior.
  • Assessment & Feedback: Regularly evaluate student work and assessments fairly and equitably.
  • Reporting & Support: Report student concerns promptly and seek support when needed.
  • Supervision: Supervise students during recess, lunch, field trips, and other activities.
  • Curriculum Knowledge: Keep current with curriculum standards and instructional strategies.

Requirements ✅

  • Minimum of two years coupled teaching experience in lower school
  • Fluency in French
  • Preferred Childhood Education certification
  • Ability to create a safe, welcoming classroom environment
  • Strong sense of accountability and passion for challenging students to excel
  • Current U.S. work visa (preferred if applicable)

Compensation & Benefits 💰

This position offers pay at a rate of $35.00 per hour. Kennedy International School values its faculty and offers a supportive environment to foster professional growth and student success.
