Position Overview

Purpose: Support and implement the mission of Magnificat High School by nurturing the overall development of students within a collaborative and enriching environment.

  • Reports to: Dean of Faculty and Academics and World Languages Department Chairperson
  • Classification: Exempt, Full-time, 42 weeks per year

Curriculum & Instructional Responsibilities

  • Expertise in teaching all levels of high school French 🇫🇷
  • Implement strategies tailored to individual student needs and abilities
  • Prepare comprehensive lesson plans integrating school and Catholic identity goals, Catholic Social Teaching, and cultural competency themes
  • Diverse teaching methods and assessment modes to engage students actively
  • Utilize formative assessment data to refine instruction 📊
  • Collaborate with tutors and intervention specialists as needed
  • Provide meaningful feedback on student progress 📝
  • Reflect regularly on lessons for improvement and adjust accordingly
  • Contribute to department planning, curriculum development, and implementation
  • Demonstrate proficiency in online and blended learning platforms such as Google Meet and Google Classroom 🌐
  • Handle departmental activities delegated by the department chair

Additional Responsibilities

  • Provide weekly course updates via Google Classroom 🖥️
  • Respond promptly (within one business day) to communications from parents, students, and staff 📧
  • Engage in professional growth activities and apply current best practices in teaching
  • Develop cultural competency by increasing awareness of personal identity, biases, and cultural understanding
  • Meet with the Dean of Faculty and Academics for performance goal development and reviews
  • Create and pursue an Individual Professional Development Plan aligned with school values
  • Maintain professional etiquette in language, attire, and classroom presence 👔

Qualifications & Requirements

Educational Background

  • Bachelor’s Degree 🎓
  • Valid state teaching license

Work Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year of successful teaching experience in high school or college settings
