About the Montclair Campus

The Montclair Campus offers classes for all ages, from toddlers to adults, across all proficiency levels—from complete beginners to native speakers. In September 2024, we expanded to include L’Alliance Preschool, providing a fully-licensed French immersion program for children.

Position Overview

We are seeking enthusiastic French Teachers to deliver engaging lessons to children, teens, and adults. Teachers will plan, deliver, and assess classes with patience, creativity, and care. Our programs cater to:

  • Toddlers (ages 1–5)
  • Children (ages 5–11)
  • Teens (ages 11–18)
  • Adults (beginners to advanced)

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and execute comprehensive lesson plans in French language and culture for diverse learners.
  • Implement engaging activities tailored to different ages and proficiency levels, fostering confidence and competence.
  • Create a positive classroom milieu, promoting collaboration and respectful interaction.
  • Regularly assess student progress and adapt instruction accordingly.
  • Prepare instructional materials and manage resources effectively.
  • Collaborate with staff to support program operations and community building.
  • Uphold L’Alliance New York’s teaching standards and contribute to cultural and educational initiatives.
  • Assist in organizing events and outreach efforts to attract new students and deepen community engagement.

Schedules & Availability

Teaching is scheduled in person Tuesday through Saturday, with the following approximate hours:

  • Tuesday–Friday: 9:45 AM – 5:45 PM or 1:15 PM – 9:15 PM
  • Saturday: 8:45 AM – 4:45 PM

Schedules may vary per session. This hourly position depends on enrollment and program needs and offers flexible hours.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Native French speaker or equivalent proficiency, with clear English communication.
  • Proven experience in teaching French as a foreign language, including experience with young learners.
  • Strong knowledge of educational theories and best practices in language teaching.
  • Deep understanding of French and Francophone cultures.
  • Creative teaching skills; arts experience is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and classroom management abilities.
  • Patience, adaptability, and openness to diverse learning styles.
  • Relevant degree or certification (e.g., Licence FLE, DAEFLE).
  • Valid U.S. work authorization (Visa sponsorship not available).
