Role and Purpose

  • Foster Holistic Development: Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences across core academic subjects to support their intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth.
  • Prepare Global Citizens: Enable students to develop competencies and skills essential for successful functioning in a diverse, interconnected society.

Qualifications

Education & Certification

  • Bachelor's Degree 🎓
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate for the assigned subject/level (preferred)

Minimum Experience

  • At least one (1) year of student teaching or approved internship

Major Responsibilities and Duties

Instructional Strategies

  • Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with district curriculum, maintaining written evidence of preparation
  • Design lessons accommodating diverse student learning styles
  • Deliver subject matter according to Texas Education Agency guidelines, district policies, and regulations
  • Plan and utilize instructional strategies, activities, materials, and equipment tailored to students’ needs
  • Use data to inform and adapt teaching methods and materials, including accommodations for gifted, bilingual/ESL, 504 plans, etc.
  • Conduct assessments of student learning styles and integrate findings into instruction
  • Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curriculum per IEP requirements
  • Work with staff to establish instructional goals, objectives, and methods per district standards
  • Implement the district’s FLES instructional framework
  • Maintain records related to language acquisition and linguistic accommodations
  • Participate in extended day/year programs and supervise teacher aides and volunteers
  • Leverage technology to enhance teaching and learning experiences

Student Growth and Development

  • Support students in analyzing and improving their study habits
  • Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor achievement using formative and summative methods
  • Engage in extracurricular activities as assigned and sponsor approved outside activities
  • Serve as a positive role model, reinforcing the school district’s mission

Classroom Management and Organization

  • Create a safe and engaging learning environment suitable for students’ physical and emotional development
  • Manage classroom behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct, IEPs, and policies
  • Ensure safety precautions for students, staff, and materials are observed
  • Assist in selecting instructional books, equipment, and materials

Communication

  • Maintain open lines of communication via parent, student, principal, and staff conferences
  • Build and uphold professional relationships with colleagues, administrators, students, and community members
  • Present information clearly and effectively in verbal and written forms

Professional Growth and Development

  • Keep current with pedagogical practices, instructional strategies, and content knowledge
  • Participate actively in professional development activities
  • Attend at least 5 days of specialized training beyond district requirements focused on dual language education
  • Show initiative and interest in continuous professional improvement

Miscellaneous

  • Stay informed about and adhere to district, state, and school policies
  • Maintain and submit all required reports and records
  • Participate in faculty meetings and staff committees
  • Uphold ethical, professional, and responsible work behavior

Working Conditions & Environment

  • Mental and Physical Demands: Maintain emotional control, interpret procedures, analyze data, and communicate effectively (verbal and written) 🧠💬
  • Physical Activities: Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing; move classroom materials and equipment 📦
  • Travel Requirements: Occasional in-district, in-state, or national travel ✈️
  • Safety: Perform duties responsibly while observing all safety precautions

Current teachers and classroom assistants interested in applying for a promotion—defined as a salary grade increase or stipends—may do so during open transfer windows. This does not apply during ongoing transfer periods. 🚀
