🎯 Position Purpose

The Middle School French Instructor is responsible for preparing curriculum, teaching French at middle school grade levels, and creating a vibrant, engaging learning environment for students.

📝 Essential Functions

  • Prepare materials and set up classrooms for class activities.
  • Develop course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts.
  • Manage the classroom to promote successful learning for every student.
  • Plan and conduct activities that offer a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and practice, encouraging observation, questioning, and investigation.
  • Teach the curriculum with knowledge of the subject matter and understanding of students' learning styles.
  • Instruct students individually and in groups using various methods, including iPads.
  • Facilitate, moderate, and initiate classroom discussions and activities.
  • Incorporate up-to-date technology in lessons and classroom management.
  • Establish clear learning objectives for lessons, units, and projects, and communicate them effectively.
  • Assess and grade students’ work, reflecting their diverse learning styles.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and other documentation.
  • Administer and grade assessments to evaluate student progress.
  • Maintain regular communication with students and parents regarding progress and priorities.
  • Meet with parents and guardians to discuss student development and resource needs.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to design a vertically aligned, spiraled curriculum that meets proficiency levels.
  • Participate in curriculum planning, development, and evaluation processes.
  • Contribute to the development, evaluation, and revision of middle school programs alongside other teachers and administrators.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development, staying current in the field of French language instruction, learning styles, and DEIB initiatives.
  • Attend professional meetings, workshops, and conferences to enhance teaching skills.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned, including advising a small group of students.

🎓 Qualifications

🔹 Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or postgraduate work in French, Education, or relevant fields.

🔹 Teaching Experience

  • Significant experience teaching French, preferably at the middle school level.
  • Experience or proficiency in teaching Spanish is a plus.

🔹 Communication Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

🔹 Instructional Technology

  • Understanding of instructional technology and its integration into curriculum design and classroom practices.
