About the Role
Concorde Education is seeking an engaging French Instructor to lead after-school language enrichment programs for students (grade band varies by assignment). This role emphasizes building foundational French communication skills through interactive, student-centered lessons.
Instructors will lead small to mid-sized groups in a structured yet fun environment, focusing on speaking, listening, and cultural exploration. Programs typically last 10 weeks but can be adapted to meet the needs of students and site logistics.
What You’ll Teach
Students will develop introductory French language skills and cultural awareness via hands-on, participation-driven lessons. Topics include:
- Greetings, introductions, and everyday conversational phrases
- Numbers, dates, and time
- High-frequency vocabulary (school, family, hobbies, food)
- Basic sentence structure and common verbs
- Listening and speaking through games, role-play, and guided dialogue
- Introductory reading and writing (as appropriate)
- French and Francophone culture (traditions, geography, music, food)
Key Responsibilities
- Lead engaging, structured after-school sessions aligned with program goals
- Prioritize student participation, especially speaking and listening
- Adapt instruction for different skill levels and group sizes
- Maintain a safe, inclusive, and classroom-appropriate environment
- Track attendance and communicate with program staff as needed
- Deliver a culminating activity or project showcasing student learning
Qualifications
- Minimum of 60 college credits (completed or in progress)
- Strong working proficiency in French
- Experience working with K–12 students (teaching, tutoring, camps, etc.)
- Strong classroom presence and ability to engage students
- Reliable, professional, and responsive
- Ability to create fun, age-appropriate learning experiences
