Overview

Make a meaningful difference — join a team committed to excellence, innovation, and global security. This position requires a TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.

What You'll Do

• Translation
  • Accurately translate materials (digital and hard copy) from French/Hausa to English and vice versa.
  • Capture subtle nuances, cultural references, and abstract concepts with contextual accuracy.
  • Effectively interpret geopolitical, regional, ethnic, and cultural references.
  • Use terminology consistent with subject matter norms in the target language.
• Interpretation
  • Provide consecutive interpretation; occasional simultaneous interpretation.
  • Maintain high fidelity and fluency, demonstrating understanding of regional dialects and cultural context.
• Transcription
  • Listen to audio or review online content and transcribe accurately and efficiently.
  • Create high-quality English reports from audio/visual materials.
  • Show nuanced understanding of dialectical variations.
• Gisting and Summarization
  • Identify and summarize key facts and abstract concepts accurately.
  • Prioritize and extract critical information from large datasets.
  • Use reference materials effectively to support quality output.

Security Clearance

Must possess an active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph, fully adjudicated before starting work.

Qualifications

• BA/BS or equivalent military training, with 4-8 years of relevant experience; or master’s degree with 2-6 years of experience. Additional experience may substitute for the degree.
• Degree in translation and interpretation highly preferred.
• Human Language Technology (HLT) experience is a plus.
• Successful completion of a Leidos-administered language proficiency test at the primary level or higher.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and online research tools.
• All candidates must pass language tests administered by Leidos or an accepted vendor.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting contingency operations as a deployed linguist.
• Familiarity with U.S. Intelligence, military, or law enforcement environments.
• Effective at briefing and communicating findings to stakeholders.
• Proficiency in multiple languages is a significant asset.

Additional Requirements

• Complete all sponsor-related training.
• Pass medical/laboratory and physical screening as required.
• Successfully complete weapons training.
• This is a hybrid position requiring travel OCONUS and 24/7 support during travel periods.
