Activate Talent Is Hiring A French Copywriter Translator
We are seeking a talented French Copywriter and Translator to support the launch and ongoing marketing efforts of a new French e-commerce experience. 🇫🇷
Overview
This role will serve as the primary FR-FR language expert, ensuring the brand voice translates naturally and appropriately for the French market across both the website and various marketing channels. The focus will be on refining AI-generated translations and localizing existing English content for the French audience, balancing conversion goals with brand standards.
It is an ongoing, retainer-style position with a steady flow of projects managed via Airtable and Smartling, typically with turnaround times of around 15 business days. 🌟
Key Responsibilities
1. Website Localization & QA (Core)
- Conduct continuous quality assurance on the French e-commerce experience, ensuring accuracy, fluency, and brand consistency.
- Review and refine AI-generated translations directly within Smartling, making necessary linguistic and tonal adjustments.
- Translate new website content from English into French, prioritizing clarity, accuracy, and conversion effectiveness.
- Identify and flag inconsistencies, errors, or areas for improvement on the French website.
2. Marketing Channel Translation & Copy Adaptation
- Translate and adapt marketing content from English into French across various channels (CRM, paid ads, social media, retail, press, campaigns, etc.).
- Maintain a consistent brand voice, ensuring all outputs sound natural and are market-appropriate.
- Use copywriting judgment to enhance flow, readability, and overall effectiveness—beyond simple translation.
3. Tools & Workflow
- Complete website translations directly in Smartling, which connects to Shopify.
- Handle marketing content in tools like Figma, Google Docs, and Google Slides.
- Coordinate with the team primarily via Slack.
Requirements
- Native French speaker based in France or an equivalent French-speaking region.
- Strong written proficiency in English and understanding of English from a marketing perspective.
- Experience translating or editing marketing and e-commerce content.
- Familiarity with Smartling or similar translation management systems.
- Comfortable working in Slack, Figma, Google Docs, and Google Slides.
- Highly detail-oriented with excellent proofreading skills and a keen sense of brand voice.
