Role Description

The Interpreter's role is to facilitate communication between individuals who do not share a language. Your duties include conveying the sense and meaning of conversations to enable effective two-way communication. 🤝

• Provide professional language interpreting services

• Ensure confidentiality, accuracy, and impartiality
• Follow all interpreting guidelines for quality
• Deliver excellent customer service
• Display strong communication, language, and organizational skills
• Be punctual, reliable, confident, and enthusiastic
• Remain impartial and respectful towards clients and service users
• Exhibit deep cultural understanding of both languages
• Maintain professionalism throughout assignments

Qualifications, Experience, and Memberships (Preferred)

• At least 2 years of interpreting experience
• Community Interpreting Level 3 Certificate
• Diploma in Police Interpreting (DPI) / Metropolitan Police Test
• Diploma in Public Service Interpreting (DPSI)
• Additional interpreting/translation qualifications
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Languages, Translation, Interpretation, Philology, or Linguistics
• Ph.D. or Doctorate in related fields
• Certificate of Higher Education in related disciplines
• Membership with NRPSI, CIOL, ITI, or other professional bodies
• Proficiency in English (if applicable)

Additional Requirements

• Eligible to work in the UK — evidence required
• Valid DBS certificate or willingness to apply for one
• Two professional references
