About the Organization

Hello! I am Minhee Choi (Minnie Choi), leading two organizations based in Texas dedicated to defending the rights of Korean workers: Haven Rights and IKLPA (International Korean Labor Rights Support Organization).

Our Mission

The Korean population in the US exceeds 2 million, with over 1 million foreign workers in Korea. Despite high rates of wrongful termination, wage theft, and workplace harassment, language and cultural barriers often prevent many from getting the assistance they need.

Haven Rights is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit supporting Korean workers across the US. IKLPA is a Korean-based sister organization that expands this mission globally through a tech platform.

Our hybrid model combines nonprofit trust with a for-profit platform to sustain operations financially through Freemium, Pro subscriptions, and B2B HR solutions—aiming for a shared impact of social good and business value.

The Opportunity

In this market, serious tech players are still emerging. Our current initiatives include:

• Running Korean government startup support programs 🇰🇷
• Applying for federal and state grants in the US (DOL, EEOC, Texas Workforce Commission) 💼
• Building B2B HR partnerships and corporate CSR funding 🤝

Once meaningful funding is secured, we will transition to a full-time team with market-rate compensation.

The Role

Founding Engineer — Be a Creator from the Ground Up

• Advance our web platform built on Next.js 14 (currently deployed on Vercel; integrated with Supabase, Stripe, OpenAI, PortOne)
• Develop an AI chatbot and Case Intelligence Engine (CIE) 🤖
• Design and manage database architecture
• Participate in all technical decision-making

Who We're Looking For

• Strong full-stack development experience (preferably with Next.js, TypeScript, Supabase/PostgreSQL)
• Experience or quick learning capability with LLM / RAG-based systems
• Enjoyment of ambiguity from 0 to 1 stages
• Genuine passion for social missions
• Clear communication skills with ownership mentality

Compensation & Path Forward

Transparent Stages

Phase 1 (Months 1–3): Founding Advisor Engagement

Initial three months involve a Founding Advisor Agreement, with no cash compensation. This period allows us to assess mutual fit and working styles. At this early stage, people and mission matter most over capital.

Phase 2 (Month 3+): Equity Grant

If both parties decide to continue, a formal agreement will grant up to 10% equity vesting based on contributions during Phase 1, with details formalized via US legal counsel.

Phase 3: Funded Stage

With external funding or government support, full-time employment with market-rate salary will commence.
