Role Overview:
The Medical Assistant at Oak Street Health plays a key role in gathering all necessary medical information to support healthcare providers in making informed decisions. This position requires flexibility, enthusiasm, attention to detail, and strong problem-solving skills. Building meaningful relationships with patients and collaborating with care teams are essential aspects of this role.
Responsibilities 📝
- Ensure smooth patient flow by rooming patients promptly, taking vital signs, conducting screenings, and medication reviews
- Inventory supplies and maintain exam rooms
- Respond to patient requests via telephone, including lab results and record sharing
- Administer vaccinations and perform point-of-care tests (e.g., A1C, spirometry, EKGs, blood draws) in accordance with state regulations
- Import documents into EMR through scanning or PDF uploads
- Participate in care team meetings to discuss patient care and clinic operations
- Process orders for durable medical equipment and request medical records from external providers
- Perform routine quality control checks, including infection control, equipment checks, and medication inventory
- Assist in maintaining the center’s lab and perform other duties as assigned
What We’re Looking For 🔍
Required Qualifications ✅
- State or national certification (as required) or graduation from an accredited medical assistant program
- At least 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant
- CPR or BLS Certification
- Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
- Proficiency in computer skills (Gmail, MS Word, Excel, or Google Docs/Sheets)
- Ability to communicate in non-English languages as required by the center's demographics
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
Strongly Preferred Qualifications 🌟
- Minimum of three years of experience as a Medical Assistant
- Proven mastery of workflow in previous MA roles
- Interest in expanded responsibilities and clinical growth to positively impact patient lives
Additional Preferred Qualifications ⭐
- Over 2 years of experience working with geriatric patients
- Phlebotomy Technician Certification

Pay Range 💰
The typical pay range is $18.50 - $42.35 per hour. Actual offer depends on experience, education, location, and other factors. Eligible for bonuses, commissions, or incentives.
