About the Role

Today, United Airlines proudly employs over 30,000 active flight attendants. As the largest airline globally, we boast the most expansive route network and are experiencing unprecedented growth. This role offers a unique chance to see the world while working, and no special schooling or college degree is required—training is fully provided by United.

Your Training & Start Date

Begin your journey with the industry’s best Flight Attendant training! You will spend 6.5 weeks in Houston, TX learning safety and service standards. Upon training completion, you'll be assigned a base at one of our seven hubs: Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Newark, San Francisco, or Washington Dulles (relocation funds not included). Following base orientation, you'll officially become a full-time United employee.

During training, enjoy a stipend of $140 per week, hotel accommodations, and meals (breakfast plus lunch or dinner depending on your schedule).

Qualifications & Requirements

  • At least 21 years old at application time
  • High school diploma or GED; college experience preferred
  • Minimum one year customer service experience (retail, hospitality, education, etc.)
  • Clear, organized communication skills; fluent in English and German
  • Ability to handle high-stress situations (e.g., emergencies, turbulence)
  • Professional appearance, with adherence to grooming and uniform guidelines
  • Visible tattoos must comply with restrictions, and no tattoos on head, hands, fingers, or neck
  • Proficiency in operating electronic devices
  • Valid U.S. or foreign passport with at least 12 months' remaining validity and two blank pages
  • Ability to travel unrestricted globally and meet physical requirements (standing, bending, lifting, reach, etc.)
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S. and willing to support a 24/7 schedule

Onboarding & Training Expectations

  • Complete an emergency water evacuation drill during training
  • Pass pre-employment drug screening, background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests
  • Meet FAA and United Airlines hearing and vision standards
  • Successful background check and eligibility to travel; criminal record background review (e.g., DWI/DUI restrictions, especially for Canada)
