Training & Onboarding

Your United journey begins with industry-leading flight attendant training in Houston, TX, lasting approximately 6.5 weeks:

  • Learn United’s safety and service standards
  • Be assigned to one of our seven hub bases — Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Newark, San Francisco, Washington D.C. Dulles — with relocation funds not provided
  • Receive a weekly stipend of $140 during training
  • Enjoy accommodations, breakfast, and meals during training

Following successful training and base orientation, you’ll officially join as a full-time United employee. Your adventure begins!

Compensation & Pay Structure 💸

Starting hourly pay at $28.88/hour, with top pay reaching $67.11/hour. Additional earnings are available through seniority increases, language skills, lead roles, and international trips:

  • Base pay: $28.88/hour
  • Top pay: $67.11/hour
  • Additional incentives for special skills and trips

In-Flight Crew Responsibilities & Skills

Qualifications & Requirements ✅

  • 21+ years old at application
  • High school diploma or GED; college preferred
  • At least 1 year of customer service experience
  • Fluent in English; proficiency in Hebrew required
  • Excellent communication, grooming, and professional appearance
  • Visible tattoos limited to arms, wrists, legs, and feet; certain restrictions apply
  • Ability to operate electronic devices proficiently
  • Valid U.S. or international passport with at least 12 months remaining and sufficient blank pages
  • No travel restrictions to United-served countries
  • Physical ability to lift and serve/assist with luggage and equipment (up to 250 lbs.)
  • Able to pass functional reach test (76" vertical, 43.5" horizontal)
  • Able to serve food and beverages professionally, including alcohol
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays

Training & Pre-Employment Requirements

  • Complete evacuation drill in water (pool)
  • PassDOT drug screens, background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests
  • Meet FAA health and vision standards
  • Undergo extensive background checks, including criminal history (DWI/DUI within the last 10 years may restrict travel to Canada)
