About the Role 🛡️

The Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS) plays a vital role in safeguarding UN operations worldwide. Key Duties & Responsibilities 🔑

Under the supervision of the Security Coordination Officer and guidance from Field Security Coordination Officers (FSCOs), the Field Security Associate will assist in implementing security measures and managing safety for UN personnel in the assigned area. Responsibilities include:

  • Security Information Management: Assisting in gathering, updating, and communicating security data, liaising with security agencies and authorities.
  • Security Planning & Compliance: Supporting the maintenance and review of security plans, monitoring adherence to security measures, and conducting audits of premises.
  • Incident Reporting & Analysis: Recording security incidents, maintaining databases, and preparing reports such as Security Incident Reports (SIRs) and Significant Security Incident Reports (SSIRs).
  • Security Training & Awareness: Organizing and delivering security briefings and training to staff, fostering a culture of security awareness.
  • Security Evaluations & Advice: Providing recommendations on residential and office security measures and maintaining emergency information systems.
  • Administrative Support: Handling correspondence, maintaining security databases, and managing logistical arrangements for security activities.

Educational & Professional Requirements 🎓

Education

  • Secondary Education required or
  • First-level university degree in Business Administration, Political Science, Management, Security Management, or related fields (considered with relevant experience)

Experience

  • A minimum of 6 years with a high school diploma or 3 years with a bachelor’s degree in related sectors such as humanitarian, security, or emergency operations.

Skills & Languages 💼🗣️

  • Proficiency in MS Office and relevant applications
  • Ability to work rotating shifts including nights and weekends
  • Valid Driver’s License Class C
  • Fluency in English, Arabic, and Hebrew essential

Desired Skills & Experience ⭐

  • Experience within UN, INGO, or international organizations preferred
  • Background in emergency operations or web-based management systems advantageous
