Overview
Note: *This position is contingent upon the award of a government contract.*
SOS International LLC (SOSi) is seeking an Exploitation Specialist – Japanese to assist a U.S. Government client. Your role will involve media monitoring, translation, and current event awareness, leveraging your Japanese language skills and cultural insights to produce English-language media products.
Responsibilities
- Understand client priorities: Develop a comprehensive understanding of client interests, mission requirements, and topical priorities. Use this knowledge to identify nuances and adapt research focus to emerging topics or events.
- Media evaluation and research: Assess potential foreign language media sources — from traditional outlets to social media. Conduct topical research, synthesize findings, and create sourced reports in English.
- Adhere to standards: Follow client style guides and translation standards to ensure consistency and quality in all deliverables.
- Leverage tools and workflows: Use client-specific tools efficiently and adhere to established workflows to meet deadlines.
- Timely delivery: Ability to meet deadlines, including same-day turnarounds when required.
Qualifications
- Educational background: High School Diploma required.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in related fields.
- Language proficiency: Proficiency in Japanese, verified via testing, typically at least 3/3+ on the ILR scale. Higher levels (e.g., 4/4+) may be required for certain positions.
- Subject matter expertise: Knowledge in international topics such as climate change, global health, politics, culture, international relations, economics, cybersecurity, emerging technologies, military, and more.
- Research skills: Experience with open-source research, media collection, social media analysis, and workflow management.
- Technical skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Teams, Excel, and Word.
- Communication skills: Excellent written and oral communication abilities, with experience working collaboratively in virtual, diverse team environments.
- Time management: Strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Educational background: Bachelor’s Degree with at least one year of relevant experience.
- Intelligence Community (IC) experience: Prior support experience with IC agencies is advantageous.
