Role Overview

At Sodexo, inspired by great ingredients and creative cooking, we bring these together to spark culinary innovation. We are seeking a highly skilled Research & Development Cantonese Area Executive Chef to spearhead our efforts in authentic and modern Cantonese cuisine, serving a client in the New Jersey/New York tri-state area. This role involves developing new menu concepts, refining recipes, and supporting culinary operations across multiple locations to deliver consistently high-quality Cantonese dishes. Ideal candidates will possess deep expertise in traditional Cantonese cooking, strong leadership abilities, and a passion for culinary innovation in a fast-paced environment.

Note: This is a remote position with candidates required to reside in or near the New Jersey/New York area. Up to 50% travel is expected.

Key Responsibilities

  • Culinary Leadership: Provide expertise and support as an Asian Market Chinese Specialist Chef for the Asian Markets Squad.
  • Customer & Menu Development: Lead critical customer presentations and develop innovative menu ideas from a culinary perspective.
  • Expertise in Cooking: Act as a savory subject matter expert with a focus on scratch cooking and flavor development.
  • Content Creation: Develop culinary content for North American projects in collaboration with peers and the Head Chef.
  • Growth Initiatives: Drive growth in savory and scratch cooking to enhance the value of UFS brands for current and prospective customers.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Marketing, Operations, Finance, and Supply Chain teams to support zone priorities.
  • Cultural & Language Translation: Accurately translate selling stories, packaging, and recipes between Cantonese and English, ensuring cultural relevance.
  • Recipe Conversion: Interpret and convert measurements between metric and imperial systems.

What You Bring

  • Bilingual Proficiency: Fluent in Cantonese and English, capable of conveying culinary and commercial concepts seamlessly.
  • Experience: 3+ years in the Foodservice Industry (corporate or kitchen) and specifically within Chinese kitchens in the US or Canada, focusing on Cantonese and Szechuan cuisines.
  • Solution-Oriented Mindset: Creative problem-solving skills to meet customer needs.
  • Collaborative Skills: Ability to work with sales teams to generate and nurture business opportunities.
  • Understanding Distribution: Knowledge of restaurant distribution networks.
  • Additional Assets: Experience selling branded food categories is a plus.
  • Communication: Excellent follow-up and interpersonal skills across organizational layers.
  • Performance Driven: Committed to delivering KPIs and team goals.
