Role Description

This is a remote freelance position for an English-Cantonese Telephonic Interpreter at AsiaLocalize. The interpreter will:

• Provide accurate, culturally appropriate interpretation services during 3-way telephonic calls.
• Ensure seamless communication between English-speaking clients and Cantonese-speaking Limited English Proficiency (LEP) speakers.
• Maintain confidentiality and uphold professionalism throughout each session.

Responsibilities

• Provide consecutive interpretation during telephonic sessions between English-speaking clients and Cantonese-speaking LEPs.
• Accurately interpret conversations across various industries such as insurance, energy, and technology.
• Facilitate clear and culturally sensitive communication between parties.
• Ensure professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
• Utilize our modern voice portal system to deliver high-quality interpretation services.

Qualifications

• Fluency in Cantonese and English, both spoken and written.
• Proven interpretation experience, with commercial or community-based background preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage calls under pressure with accuracy and professionalism.
• Reliable phone line and a quiet, distraction-free working environment.

Must-have Qualifications

• Pass a language assessment with at least a 65% score.
• Complete required training and paperwork provided by AsiaLocalize.
• Availability to handle calls, especially during peak hours (11:00 AM – 6:00 PM).
